Rick Boogs Describes WrestleMania Injury As 'Lowest Of Lows'

Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura opened Day One of WrestleMania 38 by trying to capture the SmackDown Tag Team Titles from The Usos, but the match didn't quite go as expected.

That's because Boogs' leg buckled when he tried to lift both Jimmy and Jey Uso. He ended up receiving treatment outside of the ring as the match continued with Nakamura taking on The Usos single-handedly in what turned out to be a losing effort.

It is believed that the match ending was changed as a result of Boogs injury, although it is not yet known if he and Nakamura were originally supposed to become new champions, or if The Usos were always going to retain.

Ringside officials then had to carry Boogs out with it becoming apparent to those in the arena that he appeared to have suffered quite a serious injury, although there was some confusion about whether the injury was legitimate.

But, was confirmed later on in the show by the commentators that he had torn his quads and would be undergoing surgery over the next few days.

Rick Boogs Breaks His Silence On His Injury At WrestleMania

Following the event, Boogs took to his Instagram post to comment on what he himself called 'the highest of high's of wrestling at WrestleMania and the 'lowest of lows' of picking up the injury.

"From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania," he said.

"Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers! Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I’m still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT’S A MINDSET."
